DETERMINATION OF PRESSURE, CREATED BY SWELLING POLYACRYLAMIDE-CLAY COMPOSITES IN LIMIT VOLUME
Abstract
Absorption of water or water solutions by polyacrylamide-clay composites localized in the restricted volume results in developing of swelling pressure, which should be taken into consideration for flashing of joints and cracks, making screens, etc. It has been found experimentally that the maximum uniaxial pressure arising at swelling of composites in the restricted volume is from 45 kPa to 56 kPa. Adding filler (sand) into the polyacrylamide-clay composites decreases the pressure.
